Gen.G became the first team from the Asia-Pacific region to win an international VALORANT Champion Tour event after defeating EMEA representatives Team Heretics at Masters Shanghai.

This victory is extra special because they narrowly reached the finals at the Masters Madrid two months ago. Then Gen.G reached the finals, but lost 3-2 to the North American representatives Sentinels.
The story of the Sentinels' dramatic comeback overshadowed Gen. G's dreams, but this time in Shanghai, Gen. G was determined to write a different ending.
After qualifying for the playoffs with a perfect score, Gen.G defeated EMEA teams one by one in the knockout matches. In the first round it was favorite Fnatic, then G2 Esports in the semifinals and finally Team Heretics in the grand finals.
