General Motors and AT&T have announced a partnership to bring 5G connectivity to millions of GM vehicles in the United States over the next decade.

The collaboration was detailed in GM's Corporate Newsroom blog, which states that 5G connectivity will roll out in select 2024 model year vehicles. The collaboration is part of the two companies' intention to launch "the world's largest fleet of 5G vehicles."
The 5G network will provide better road coverage, faster, higher-quality music and video downloads, improved navigation service, and secure over-the-air updates for the vehicles. GM also said that 2019 model year vehicles that are 4G-LTE-compatible will also benefit, experiencing faster speeds and performance.
Some of the brands that will benefit from this new venture include Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac, all of which are owned by General Motors. 2019 model year vehicles from these brands will be able to transition to the 5G infrastructure once it becomes available.
