Google is updating Duo, one of the leading video messaging apps, with a new home screen design that now makes it easier to initiate phone calls.

Google Duo’s latest update is a pretty big one. Google has started rolling out a new home screen for the video app. The new design removes the old contacts list that users could scroll through to make calls and replaces it with an easier-to-search system, as well as a “New Conversation” button. 9To5Google says the new button will give users access to all of the standard features they have in Duo, including starting a conversation, creating a group, and more.
Anyone who's been following Google at all lately will likely remember that the company recently rolled out a major update to Google Meet, the company's more business-focused video messaging app.
That update included all the filters and features you can add to your conversations in Duo, leading some to believe that Google Duo might be next on Google's app kill list. Now that Duo has gotten a simplified home screen, it's unclear whether that's still a problem or not.
