Google just updated its privacy tools across several services, including Search, YouTube, and Maps. It’s a smart move, especially in the wake of Apple’s own renewed commitment to privacy and a world where data security is a major concern around the world.
EU to make sweeping changes to online privacy rules
Automatic deletion by default: Google could already automatically delete your location, search, voice, and YouTube activity data in three- or 18-month intervals, but you had to opt in. Automatic deletion is now the default for all core Google activity settings. YouTube defaults to 36 months.
If you want to keep your history intact, you will need to do it manually.
Easier access: You can now easily get to your privacy checkup settings with a “Google Privacy Checkup” in Search.
