Google is working to eliminate the need to say “Hey Google” for certain commands for its voice assistant.

Google Assistant Not Working Android? "Hey Google" Here's the Fix!

According to 9to5Google, the tech giant is working on developing “quick phrases” so that you don’t have to ask the voice assistant every time you need something. Quick phrases will reportedly work specifically with the most requested commands, such as “turn up the volume,” “create a reminder,” “set an alarm for 8am,” “what’s the weather,” and more.

The commands you can set as quick phrases are reportedly categorized as Recommended, Alarms, Connect, General information, Lights, Media controls, Timers, and Tasks. 9to5Google noted that you'll have to choose which command(s) you want to set as a quick phrase yourself.

The feature was originally spotted back in April, but it appears that Google has been working on it since then, changing the name from “Voice Shortcuts.” However, Google has yet to officially confirm the feature or when it will be more widely available to the public.
