ChatGPT’s total dominance in the AI-driven conversational platform space is coming to an end as Google enters the fray with its own competitor.

The web search giant has just unveiled Bard, a conversational AI (artificial intelligence), also known as a chatbot, that aims to rival OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT service. Powered by language modeler LaMDA, Bard acts as a more consumer-friendly version of its experimental chatbot LaMDA 2.
In this respect, the system is similar to ChatGPT in many ways, though Google prioritizes the chatbot’s ability to simplify complex topics for a broad audience. The company cites Bard explaining astronomical discoveries to a child as an example.
More data is needed to perfect this experimental technology, so Bard will only be available to “trusted testers” until it is released to the general public in the coming weeks.
