The new features, announced on the YouTube blog, include new experimental AI chats organized around YouTube comments. Starting today, Premium members can try out new AI-powered chat tools while watching videos, the company says. The idea is to have a small AI assistant that can suggest related content, answer questions and more within the video playback interface. However, it's "only available in English for a limited number of YouTube Premium members in the U.S. on Android devices for now."
There’s also a new AI tool that summarizes the comments sections of videos, hopefully making it easier to figure out what people are talking about and join in on longer conversations on YouTube. If you’re a creator, you can easily see what everyone is talking about and perhaps use that to create new content based on what your audience is talking about.
The company is also expanding its 1080p access to more people. Originally only offered to iOS users, the higher-resolution video option will now be available for Android, web users, and smart TVs. It should be enabled automatically based on your connection, but you can also enable it yourself in the quality menu of any video.
