Google has announced plans to automatically enroll 150 million users in its two-factor authentication (2FA) security system by the end of the year.
STOP using this two-factor authentication (2FA) method!
The move to make 2FA standard was introduced in May and has been moving along steadily. The company will also require 2 million YouTube creators to enable 2FA to access its Studio website in a bid to improve security. Chrome Password Manager will also be rolling out to iOS, giving those users new security features like password autofill, according to a post on Google's safety & security blog, The Keyword.
For users who can’t enable 2FA, Google is working on a new technology that will provide a similarly secure authentication process. The company’s goal is to reduce the reliance on passwords over time.
Google’s password manager on iOS lets users select their Chrome app and autofill passwords in other apps. Additionally, iPhone owners can now enter passwords with a single tap, instead of having to remember and type each password in every app.
