Google announced the update in a blog post on Wednesday. In addition to listing new features that are available now or coming soon, the company also revised some existing features, such as AI in Google Maps. But it’s the new features that we’re most interested in.
Topping the list of new things? Ways to customize lists you create in Google Maps. Now, when you create a list in Google Maps, you can organize the places you list "by top favorites or chronologically as a travel itinerary," Emmanuel Marto, Google Maps' director of product management for search, wrote in the blog post. You can also link to content you've found on your social channels, so you can see the inspiration to add something to your list. Google says these new features will be available on Android and iOS later in March.
The next step is to look at curated recommendation lists from both publishers and The Infatuation, as well as from community members. So starting this week, your recommendation lists could come from a publication you know or a local guide. And there will also be new trending, top and hidden gems lists “based on what people are interested in or [who] live in that city.”
