Google Maps can't help you catch your connection if your flight is delayed, but it might make it a little easier to find your way to your destination.
New Google Maps updates just in time for holiday travel
On Google's Keyword Blog today, the company posted about a new set of features coming to Google Maps. They include new features related to public transportation, a way to make planning and traveling in groups easier, and, just for fun, some new emoji reactions.
If you’re traveling to a city this holiday season, new transit route recommendations might be the feature you never knew you needed. With this update, Google Maps is making it easier to find station entrances and exits, but it’s also updating transit routes with information like ETA (estimated time of arrival), the number of transfers along the route, and the total length of your trip. There are also some new filters that let you choose options like routes that require less walking to get to your destination.
Transit Route Recommendations is available in over 80 cities worldwide, including Berlin, Boston, London, Madrid, New York City, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Toronto.
