In a groundbreaking move, Google has announced the rollout of offline navigation for Google Maps on Wear OS devices. The new feature will help Google’s smartwatch users interact with maps and navigate their surroundings, with or without internet.
How to Use Google Maps Offline (+ a BETTER Option) | Offline Maps & Navigation App
The days of needing your phone or an internet connection to find your way are over. With this update, Wear OS users can now get turn-by-turn directions even when they’re disconnected or have left their smartphone behind. It’s one of the biggest updates to come out of Google’s Made by Google event for anyone who values independence from their mobile devices.
After the update, you will see a message explaining how 'Offline maps on the phone will be automatically downloaded to the watch'. These can be accessed at any time via the 'Offline maps' page located just above the Settings options at the bottom of the main list.
The offline functionality allows users to download maps of specific areas directly to their smartwatches. Once downloaded, you can access them anytime, anywhere, regardless of internet connection. Whether you’re exploring a new city or hiking in remote areas, you’ll always have a reliable navigation partner on your wrist.
