Google recently pulled the plug on unlimited free video calling through Google Meet, instead imposing a 60-minute call limit.

Is Google Meet going to introduce a 60-minute time limit on group video calls for free users?

According to 9to5Google, Google Meet video calls with three or more people (without a subscription) will now be limited to one hour, rather than having unlimited video time. After 55 minutes, video call participants will receive a warning that their meeting will end soon, with the option for the host to upgrade their Google account.

If you're in a one-on-one conversation with someone, you can still have a Google Meet video call for up to 24 hours if you don't have a Google Workspace subscription.

Google initially allowed anyone to make a Google Meet video call for an arbitrary amount of time at the start of the pandemic in April 2020. However, 9to5Google notes that the company continued to extend the deadline for unlimited calls as the pandemic continued — first from September 2020 to March 2021, and finally late last month.
