Google has announced plans for additional security features and co-hosting options for Google Meet users and administrators.
Add a co-host on Google Meet
Several of these safety features are available to Google Workspace Education customers, but Google wants to make them available to more people who use Google Meet. These changes are expected to boost meeting productivity, reduce distractions, and ease the moderation burden for hosts. However, these features won’t be available to all Workspace accounts. The official Workspace Updates announcement has a full list of what’s included and what’s not.
Hosts can add up to 25 co-hosts to a meeting and can decide whether to grant co-hosts different host controls. Both hosts and co-hosts who have been granted access can also better moderate meetings with the Host Management option. This lets you limit who can join, share their screen, and send chat messages, as well as mute anyone or end the call for all participants.
The People panel is also getting an update that will allow the host (and co-hosts, if allowed) to search for specific meeting participants. This should make it easier to find a specific user to give them co-hosting privileges, mute them, or kick them out if they're causing trouble.
