Google has announced that, in the name of security, devices running the older operating system will no longer be able to log in to some apps. As a result, the company advises that if your device is running Android 2.3. 7 or older, you should update to Android 3.0 or later if you can.
Starting September 27, you’ll likely receive a username/password error when trying to sign in or create new accounts for certain Google apps. Google also says you’ll receive the error if you perform a factory reset and try to sign in again, change your password, create an account, or remove and re-add your account.
It’s unclear whether you can delay the error by never logging out. But even if you could, most apps and services will eventually require you to log back in.
