Google is quietly rolling out its Fuchsia operating system upgrade to first-generation Nest Hub devices.
Testing Fuchsia on a Google Nest Hub!
Google has been quietly developing the Fuchsia operating system (OS) from the ground up as a non-Linux-based alternative to its current OS. Google confirmed to 9to5Google that the upgrade is coming with the new firmware update for its first-generation Nest Hub devices. Users should get it soon, if they don't have it already.
Previously, Nest Hub devices used Google Cast as their operating system. The differences between Cast and Fuchsia are so minimal that users may not even notice the change. The user interface is still the same, and so is the booting process. However, improvements to casting make it faster on the Fuchsia OS.
It appears that the performance matches were put in place intentionally, as Google wanted to make the experience of using Fuchsia as smooth as possible.
