In the battle between Google's password manager and the dedicated services of 1Password and Bitwarden, the third-party options are the clear winners.
Better password habits with Google Password Manager
Google wants to change that, though, and the company’s opening salvo is a major update to its built-in password manager. This update brings a host of improvements to the service, including grouping multiple passwords for the same sites or apps into a single field.
There have also been a slew of improvements to the Android version of the password manager, as it now looks and feels identical to its Chrome-based counterpart, with settings automatically carrying over between the two. Android users can even open the manager with a single tap on the home screen, thanks to a new shortcut.
The service now flags weak and reused passwords on Android devices, so users can be aware and quickly fix the issues. This password-checking feature is also available for Chrome users on Chrome OS, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux.
