Finding the specific photos you want from the thousands you have stored on Google Photos is no easy task. Google just updated its app to work with the latest Gemini model, allowing you to ask broader, more natural questions to find the images you really want, faster and easier.

The new experimental feature, called Ask Photos, will be rolling out over the next few months and should help us all find what we want in our vast galleries of photos taken over the decades.
“As people’s galleries grow, finding what you need can lead to scrolling through pages of photos and videos, even if you have the right combination of keywords,” Google Photos software engineer Jeremy Selier said in the blog post. “With Ask Photos, you can ask for what you’re looking for in a natural way, like, ‘Show me the best photo from every national park I’ve visited.’ Google Photos can show you what you need, eliminating the need to scroll.”
It gets even more powerful. Google’s new AI model will be able to answer questions like, “What themes have we had for my kid’s birthday parties?” or “When do my camping permits expire?” The AI will understand the context of all your photos and pull out specific photos to answer these contextual questions.
