Google announced that it has sent more than 50,000 individual warnings to users this year about what the company suspects are state-sponsored hacks.
URGENT WARNING Google Cyber Attack Alert! 🚨🔒
According to a report from Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG), the company is blaming Russian hacking group APT 28, also known as Fancy Bear. The group has been so prolific in its efforts that Google saw a 33% increase in attacks compared to the same period in 2020.
Fancy Bear’s hacking strategy appears to be large-scale phishing and malware campaigns, and when an attempt is detected, Google immediately sends a notification. The company does this to ensure that the attackers don’t see their defensive strategy.
If someone receives one of these alerts, it doesn't mean they've been hacked, it just means they've been targeted.
