Google has announced a significant expansion of the capabilities of its AI assistant Gemini, now allowing users to create and manage calendar events, take notes, and perform tasks across a wider range of devices. The features were previously available exclusively on Pixel 9 smartphones, but are now rolling out to select Google Workspace subscribers under the open beta program.
Using Gemini AI with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, and Docs)
The new functionality is part of Google Workspace extensions for the Gemini app, which now includes integration with Google Calendar, Google Keep, and Google Tasks. Users can access these features by tapping their profile picture in the Gemini app and selecting the Extensions option.
The Calendar extension now allows users to create new events, search for specific events by date or details, and make changes or cancellations to existing appointments. The Keep extension allows users to create and edit notes and lists, while the Tasks extension allows for quickly adding and managing reminders and to-do items.
