Google's Pocket Gallery series, which lets you take virtual gallery tours on your smartphone using augmented reality (AR), is now available to everyone.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Buds Pro 2 – YES, A LOT!
The company’s announcement explains that the entire Pocket Galleries series is now viewable by anyone with an internet connection. So whether you’re on a computer or a smartphone, and regardless of whether you can use AR, it’s available to you.
You can view an assortment of Vermeer paintings, learn about Bauhaus, explore Chauvet Cave, study Gustav Klimt, and more. All you have to do is enter the gallery when a virtual tour is available, and you're (digitally) in.
You can wander through the virtual exhibition space in a manner similar to Google Maps’ Street View capabilities. It’s worth noting that not every collection has a virtual gallery option, though there are still plenty of sample images and explanations.
