Apple's upcoming Vision Pro headset will face some stiff competition, which could be a good thing for users.
If Google were to recreate the Apple Vision Pro
Google is reportedly moving forward with a partnership with Samsung to build an augmented reality (AR) headset, despite the project facing delays. But if and when the headset does hit stores, it could be a game-changer.
"A Google AR headset would revolutionize the user experience," tech analyst Mark Vena told Lifewire in an email interview. "Imagine navigating cities with real-time augmented directions, improving productivity with virtual workspace overlays, or enjoying immersive games. Google's vast services, if effectively integrated, could redefine the way we interact with digital information, making everyday tasks more intuitive and engaging."
Google is partnering with Samsung to build the new headset, which along with Qualcomm, hinted at a joint venture to challenge Apple’s mixed reality initiatives in February. While the headset’s release was delayed following the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro, the trio is eyeing a summer 2024 launch.
