There are 12 chapters in the main story. The game starts with the prologue and continues through ten chapters until the conclusion. There is also a secret chapter 0, which ties up some loose ends from the main story, but is also very challenging.

In the beginning, the crew is returning home after an adventure when a group of Wyverns attack them. This part of the story is meant for new players to learn the basic gameplay mechanics. Talk to your crewmates, defeat the Wyverns, and hold out against the Proto Bahamut. The prologue ends dramatically with the captain falling from the airship.

The Captain wakes up in a Sundappled Grove forest after a strange dream. Now it’s up to you to find Lyria and get out of the forest. Just follow the markers until you reach Timber Wolves. While fighting him, you’ll learn some gameplay mechanics about skills. Use your skill to defeat Timber Wolves and proceed to Lyria. To reunite with Lyria, you’ll need to defeat the boss Quackadile. This fight will teach you about Link Attacks and you can use them when you stun Quackadile.
