Within the post itself, fans were immediately distracted and drawn to what appear to be AI-generated images of Apex Legends characters Bangalore, Wattson, and Horizon, who look nothing like their in-game appearances. Many are theorizing that the character Horizon is supposed to be looks more like Tracer from Overwatch.
The announcement prompted a variety of reactions and quotes from fans criticizing or mocking the esports organization founded by soccer legend David Beckham, who co-owns Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami team. Beckham’s soccer team saw a huge surge in valuation in 2023 after the legendary Lionel Messi, who also co-owns an esports organization through KRÜ Esports, joined the team.
Many comments point out that the assets and images of the characters are free to use, and Guild is ridiculed for not using graphic designers in any capacity.
