Hades 2 received its second major update within the first month of its early access launch. The beefy Patch 2 featured a series of balance changes aimed at shaking up fan-favorite Weapon Aspects and Daedalus Hammer upgrades.

“Among the improvements in this patch, you’ll find a ton of new UI icons and weapon-related balance changes aimed at improving core combat and related choices,” developer Supergiant says in the patch notes. From what we could gather in our test run, placeholder icons for Keepsakes and other things have now been replaced with actual art — and from what we’ve come to expect from Supergiant, they look fantastic.
To spice up your runs, you can now encounter up to one extra Olympian each night, meaning the cumulative number of Boons in a run is now the same as it was in Hades 1. The fact that you’re more likely to find an extra Boon or other large reward in Erebus, the first region of the Underworld, means you’ll be much stronger earlier in your runs. Death Defiance has also received some major buffs, with Nemesis only offering a refill when you need it and a longer invincibility period after Defiance. And for those who haven’t yet completed their very first run in Hades 2, Chronos is now less “obviously unfair”.
In terms of weapon balance, Patch 2 touched on all five Nocturnal Arms. While most are buffs, Supergiant has toned down a handful of clearly overpowered choices, chief among them the Aspect of Momus.
