Halo games are generation-defining first-person shooters, long before Call of Duty or Battlefield became the norm. Halo games have shaped how we play and expect FPS games to this day. Many Xbox players like myself have a deep connection to these games and it’s often a conversation starter when we meet another Xbox fan. But now that Halo Infinite is pursuing a free-to-play model for multiplayer, many new players are being introduced to the series, getting to experience the action and fluid movement that these games delivered and made better with each console generation.
Ranking EVERY Halo Game from Worst to Best
Many of these new players who are experiencing Master Chief for the first time via the paid single-player campaign plan to play the old games. But with so many games, including the original trilogy, still available, many don’t know where to start. So, here’s my ranking of the best Halo games in this tier list.
Please note that this ranking will be based purely on the game's single-player campaigns, taking into account many factors. So with that in mind, here are all the best Halo Games ranked in our Tier List:
The original trilogy is by far the best collection of games in the series, and while the anniversary editions offer improved graphics at the push of a button, we’ve ranked the OG games higher because of how close everyone here holds them to their hearts. And at the top of our list is Halo MCC, which is a perfect choice for someone new to experience all the originals in order and in all their glory. And the rest of the games closely follow the popular opinions of Redditors and our staff here. Halo Wars also makes this list. And at the bottom end, we’ve kept Halo Recruit and Halo Fireteam Raven. That’s because Halo Recruit requires a Windows MR headset to play and doesn’t really add much to the Halo experience. And Halo Fireteam Raven, as an arcade game, doesn’t focus much on the story in the grand scheme of things.
