Waterfield’s take on a Meta Quest 3 travel case is a beautiful, premium-feeling padded case wrapped in waxed canvas and leather. It’s quickly become my favorite way to stow my Quest 3, even when I’m not traveling, and it’s sure to make boarding a plane with it (for Meta’s new Inflight VR mode) even more enjoyable than ever before.

Now I love Waterfield bags; I have several backpacks and gadget cases from the past decade of writing about technology. The build quality is always top notch and the bags have a well thought out design and quality materials.
The Meta Quest 3 Shield Case is no exception. The waxed canvas exterior (also available in 1050 denier black ballistic nylon) and well-padded interior keep your VR headset safe and secure. A zippered pocket on the front and slip-in pocket on the back of the case let you slide in various chargers and cords, soft lens cleaning cloths, and the like to keep your Quest 3 charged and clean while on the go. The exterior zippers are waterproof to keep your precious electronics dry and warm, too.
The padded controller bag fits nicely in the pocket in the area behind the headset. The only gripe I have here is that it doesn’t fit the Quest 3 External Battery headstrap, which then has to be purchased separately if you want to take it with you. It’s not a dealbreaker, VR sessions while traveling are generally a bit shorter than ones at home, but a long flight almost demands extra battery life.
