With each new Wordle variant, you expect more challenges. Hardle, the “Hard Wordle” presents the challenge of guessing the mysterious 5-letter word with a little flip, implemented in the all too familiar “colored hint” dynamic of the word game sensation, Wordle.
BASIC COLOR THEORY: Use the color wheel and color harmonies to choose colors that go well together
What makes Hardle different from a harder Wordle? In Hardle, you struggle with clues in the colors “pink” and “blue” that randomly embody different meanings each day, unlike the constant implication of the colors “green” and “yellow” on Wordle. With this revamped color coding, creator Vignesh Venkat engages you in a two-fold challenge each day – the first is to figure out the mystery word, which can only be done if you successfully figure out the color of the day.
With this preface we will put the colors 'pink' and 'blue' on the examination table to see what they represent and why they behave unpredictably in every game.
So, you already know what the colors "green", "yellow" and "gray" mean on a Wordle grid. The "green" color is used to give feedback on letters that are all correct (valid letters in the right position). On the other hand, if a letter gets "yellow" feedback, that is the system's hint to let you know that it is only partially correct (valid letter in the wrong position). "Gray" represents a letter that does not appear in the answer or is repeated more often than it actually appears in the word.
