Maybe it’s too loud in your house to hear the TV clearly, or you just want to keep the volume down. Either way, there are times when closed captioning or subtitles are the best options for enjoying a streaming show. When HBO Max subtitles aren’t working, there are a few things you can do to fix it.
Maybe the subtitles are out of sync, or they’re not showing up. Whatever the cause, there are steps you can take to get them back on the screen (and appearing as they’re supposed to).
If the HBO Max servers are down, the streaming service may not behave as expected. The first step you should take is to check Downdetector. It will let you know if HBO Max is having an issue in a localized area or if the service is down as a whole. If this is the case, the only thing you can do is wait for it to come back online.
