Say goodbye to HDMI
Miracast explained
Miracast is one of the many wireless display standards. If you have a Miracast device and display, you can send a video signal from one to the other, without the need for a long HDMI cable.
Sounds pretty good, right? The problem is that Miracast is in practice competing with many other seemingly similar standards. This means that many users are unsure whether they can use Miracast or whether it is the right wireless display technology to use.
Miracast is a standard defined by the WiFi Alliance, which means that it uses WiFi technology at its core. Specifically, it uses WiFi Direct, which creates a WiFi connection between two devices without the need for a router or other access point to act as a middleman.
