Simple technology that becomes ubiquitous
RFID technology explained
RFID, or Radio-Frequency Identification technology, is everywhere. From employee ID cards to items you buy in a store, and even inside our pets. It’s a simple yet ingenious technology that’s coming into its own in an increasingly digital world. Pretty impressive for a technology that’s been around since World War II.
So this is a good time to delve into what RFID is and its various applications.
An RFID system consists of two main components. First, you have the RFID tag itself. This contains the ID information, usually referencing a large external database. Second, we have the RFID reader. This is the device that extracts the information stored in the RFID tag.
