Helldivers 2 players who logged in today were faced with a stark moral dilemma as part of the game’s latest Major Order: save children hiding in a hospital, or risk your life rescuing stuck anti-tank mines. Which will help Sweet Liberty in the long run?

Helldivers 2 – Devs Explain Nerfs, Discuss Tank, Player Reactions, and More!

The latest Helldivers 2 Major Order is underway. Players must set their sights on one of two planets: Vernen Wells or Marfark. Thousands of supercitizens are trapped in a children’s hospital on the former, while the latter houses much-needed anti-tank mines that would increase the chances of democracy against the endless threat of socialist Automatons and tyrannical Terminids. Eager Helldivers will have to make a choice and decide who is more worthy in the grand phase of the Galactic War.

The Major Order itself confirms that only one of the two planets and its contents and inhabitants can be saved. Players have already begun creating trolley problem memes on Reddit, discussing perhaps the biggest moral dilemma yet. One user created an image showing the children of Vernen Walls as different potential victims, while saving the weapons would kill far fewer people, but Super Earth would yield exceptional bombs. “Watch the community go off the rails and kill both of them,” another user joked. And Helldivers are known for causing a lot of destruction and losing literally billions of personnel, ultimately accomplishing nothing at all.

Helldivers 2 continues its live service, with players getting Major Orders left and right. The balancing issues are still up in the air, and the team at Arrowhead is working hard to smooth things out. The game has yet to receive its new faction, despite all the teasing over the past few months, and we can only imagine what moral dilemmas await us in the near future.
