Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter that is best enjoyed when played with friends. However, it’s not easy to convince your friends to buy the game or perhaps adjust your schedule to play together. Thankfully, the game has added an option where you can match and play a public game with random people. You’re even given options to host or join a game. So if you’re not sure how it works, here’s how it works:

You will need to use the game’s Quick Play option to join public matches. While in the ship, interact with the Galactic War map and press Quick Play. The game will search for a match for you. Once you find one, you will join a random lobby and be able to play with strangers.

If you can't find it, chances are your Matchmaking privacy settings have been changed. By default it should be Public, but if it's Friends Only, here's how to change it:
