The latest Helldivers 2 patch introduced a bunch of balance changes, including several nerfs to Democratic Detonation Warbond weapons. Players are frustrated.

One of the weapons that got hit with the hammer nerf is the CB-9 Exploding Crossbow. In Patch 01.000.300, the crossbow's stagger was increased at the cost of the explosion, and players aren't impressed. A Helldivers 2 player shared a video on Reddit that summarizes everything you need to know about the nerf.
In the clip, a Helldiver aims and fires the crossbow close to the Automaton soldier's feet, and the so-called "explosion" does absolutely nothing to the enemy. Players pointed out that developer Arrowhead might as well call this crossbow the Concussive Crossbow due to the increased stagger.
“I was just starting to like that weapon for larger enemy groups, I guess I can ditch it from my arsenal now since it doesn’t do what I liked to use it for anymore,” one Helldiver wrote, with many agreeing that these nerfs would take away the entire point of the Exploding Crossbow. Another pointed out that this clip wouldn’t sell the Democratic Detonation Warbond if it was in the trailer, since there isn’t much detonation left in the weapon.
