The Escalation of Freedom is the biggest update to Helldivers 2 to date. In addition to introducing new content, it also includes quality of life changes to address the grieving process.
Helldivers 2 you have been kicked out of the game
In a blog post about Helldivers 2 Escalation of Freedom on July 24, developer Arrowhead Game Studios announced a system where, if you get kicked out, you'll spawn into a new session as the host with all the team's loot from the previous session. You can pick up any items before you get extracted and get out without losing any rewards.
Grief kicking has been a problem for Helldivers since the game launched. For weeks after release, players were kicked from games for no good reason. Some undemocratic Helldivers enjoy leaving their teammates without loot by kicking them at the very end of the mission, but thankfully you don’t have to worry about that anymore.
"With these changes, all players will have the ability to leave with all the loot they've collected during a mission, without any Helldiver suffering as a result. We're committed to making changes that improve the player experience and encourage healthy, cooperative gameplay," the blog post reads. The developer added that more quality-of-life changes, including fixes to the social menu, are coming to Helldivers 2 with the Escalation of Freedom update.
