The May 1 patch broke many crucial mechanics in MW3, including movement and weapon animations, as well as performance. “No reload sounds, broken kill animations, constant lag, can’t cancel a reload… And why does it feel like I’m moving super slow? It feels like MW2 movement,” one player wrote on Reddit—and it unsurprisingly earned the approval of hundreds of frustrated players.
One player called the update "hilariously broken" and mentioned how he saw fire blasts "teleport" in MW3. Not only fire, but several reports in the thread also indicated that animations are broken for multiple weapons, including guns and grenades. Interestingly, some players have assumed that the stutters and bugs were the result of performance or internet issues on their part, when all along it was inefficiencies on the developers' part.
In addition to sabotaged animations, players are particularly unhappy about the update’s undesirable effect on MW3’s movement mechanics, causing sprint and slide animations to become noticeably slower. Additionally, console players (Xbox and PlayStation) seem to be the biggest victims of the update’s rampage, with most reports highlighting performance issues causing unbearable stuttering and slowdowns.
