Honor 7X review: Big screen for a small budget
What sets the Honor 7X apart from the budget and mid-range competition is its striking widescreen display. At 5.93 inches and with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 (18:9), the Honor 7X delivers a miniature cinematic experience that you’re unlikely to find elsewhere in the $200 price range. It also packs an impressive 16MP dual-lens camera on the back with advanced DSLR capabilities that can take gorgeous portrait photos.
But the Honor 7X does have some drawbacks, most notably Huawei's clunky EMUI operating system. There have been improvements since the Honor 7X originally launched in 2017, including support for EMUI 8 (based on Android 8). This helps push the Honor 7X back among the top contenders in its price range.
The most striking part of the Honor 7X’s design is also its biggest feature: its 5.93-inch widescreen display. This screen takes up the majority of the phone’s front, leaving just enough room for the front-facing camera and phone receiver at the top, and the Honor logo at the bottom. Despite its size, the Honor 7X doesn’t look or feel any larger than similarly priced phones with smaller screens.
