In case you didn't know, Fede Álvarez's “Alien: Romulus” is terrifying, and yes, there's a scene where someone gets their chest exploded.

But this is Álvarez, the director behind “Don’t Breathe” and the “Evil Dead” reboot. Not only is it terrifying, but his take on the iconic chestbursting scene is bloodier.

Cinematographer Galo Olivares shared with Variety's Inside the Frame the one directive he received from Álvarez for the film. "Go up there and see what's happening; react to the scene," Olivares said. "It was pretty simple. There were no tricks… like we were documenting something."
