Navigating through traffic will soon be easier thanks to an update to Apple Maps.

Apple is upgrading its Maps app with live traffic information in an effort to compete with other route finders like Waze. Siri will let you report accidents or hazards you see on your route. Experts say the new features could be a boon for users.

“Consumers want maps that are as up-to-date as possible,” said Max Zhang, head of partnerships at software company NextBillion AI, in an email interview.

“While historical traffic information is sufficient to predict travel times and directions for 98% of journeys, there are specific cases where live traffic updates are necessary.”
