More and more apps encourage people to reuse things instead of buying new ones.
The apps that can help you reduce, reuse and recycle
The recently released app, Sojo, works by connecting users with tailors so that clothes can be repaired instead of thrown away. It is one of several apps aimed at preventing people from overspending during economic downturns. The software could also help the environment by reducing waste, observers say.
“Reuse is one of the basic pillars of sustainability,” said Tato Bigio, CEO of UBQ Materials, a company that claims to convert waste into climate-friendly plastic, in an email interview.
"By extending the life cycle of a product or good, you optimize the finite natural resources used in its production and prevent these resources from being further depleted for new production."
