Smart Homes and IoT – How AI and Blockchain Can Make Our Homes More Efficient, Secure and Connected
First unveiled in 2019, Project Connect Home Over IP (CHIP for short) is a royalty-free, open software program from Apple, Google, Amazon, and the Zigbee Alliance (currently made up of more than 170 companies) to make smart home devices work better together.
While originally scheduled for release in 2020, we could finally see CHIP-enabled devices later this year. The current fragmented nature of the market makes it difficult for users to purchase new smart home devices that work together seamlessly, something experts say CHIP will provide relief from.
“To get straight to the point, I truly believe CHIP will be a game changer in the smart home industry,” Charlotte Robinson, a smart home blogger and software engineer, told Lifewire in an email.
