Some former Grey's Anatomy contestants have jumped at the chance to reprise their roles on the ABC medical drama, and the rest have standing invitations.

“We have an open-door policy here,” Meg Marinis recently told TVLine. “We always want the old characters to come back and interact with the new characters.”
Fans saw Patrick Dempsey, TR Knight, Chyler Leigh, and Eric Dane return in Season 17, for example, when the actors made a surprise appearance after years away — and more than a decade, in Knight’s case. Kate Walsh returned in Seasons 18 and 19 in another decade-long return. And now Jessica Capshaw is bringing back Dr. Arizona Robbins for the first time since Season 14 in this current 20th season.
