Everything new comes with its own set of bugs and issues, and Focus modes are no different. If you’ve been using Focus modes lately, you might have encountered a bug where your contacts would get a message that you’ve muted your notifications, when in reality all Focus modes are inactive on your device. So how do you fix this? Let’s find out!
This is a bug that was recently discovered and appears to be caused by mismatched settings when using Focus modes API with third party and stock apps. We have no official word on this and Apple has yet to acknowledge this issue on iOS 15 and iOS 15.1.
There are several ways to fix this bug, but the best one seems to be to delete all of your Focus modes and set them up again as new. As discussed previously, the Focus API seems to be bugged when a Focus mode is automatically disabled, which in turn pretends that it isn't.
