Once you have built the basic structures of your village, you will want to expand. For that, you will need more people, because the initial number is not enough. Here is how to get more villagers and families in Manor Lords.
Landlords: How to Grow the Population (and Keep It Alive)
Your villagers form families that live in Burgage Plots (houses). The main difference between villagers is that men can take up arms (Militia). To grow the population in Manor Lords, you need to build houses, as newcomers need a place to stay. However, you may find that even though you have plenty of empty Burgage Plots, there are no new families. In that case, check your approval rating (or, in gaming terms, happiness).
The happiness of your villagers is important because you want your settlement to have a good reputation. When outsiders hear about a village with great living conditions, they want to live there. You can find more detailed strategies for a high approval rating in our separate guide, but in short, always make sure you have enough food, keep them warm, build a church, and don’t impose strict rules (or impose taxes). To ensure that your population grows as fast as you want, you need to maintain a high approval rating, keeping the numbers below in mind.
