This week, a new feature called Fleets launched for Twitter users in the US. While it’s essentially the same “Stories” feature we’ve seen across other social networking platforms, experts say it will change Twitter as we know it.
How to Create Twitter Fleets – Lost Tweets
Fleets are advertised as text responses to tweets, photos or videos that last just 24 hours. If this sounds familiar, that's because Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Snapchat have similar features. Twitter's entry into the "Stories" feature club, however, promises to be unique from other platforms, thanks to Twitter's microblogging-centric design.
“I think it will be interesting to see how they develop this feature differently than Instagram and Facebook,” William Lai, chief product officer at Seattle-based IAS Machine, said in a direct message.
Twitter describes Fleets as a “way for people to confidently talk about what’s happening.” The feature has been tested in Brazil, Italy, India and South Korea over the past few months and has received positive feedback from users.
