Microchips may soon be so cheap and flexible that they can be printed on milk bottles.
This chip could change the world of computing forever
Chipmaker Arm has unveiled a new prototype microchip made from plastic that Arm says will create a new “internet of everything,” with chips embedded in many types of objects. It’s the latest in a series of recent advances in chip technology that could transform personal electronics.
“Many current wearables and implants suffer from serious battery life and size issues, hindering breakthroughs in applications such as AR glasses, AR contacts, and neural-computer interfaces,” Wood Chiang, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Brigham Young University who studies chip design, told Lifewire in an email interview.
“For example, by having a Zoom call through your smart glasses or by having GPS maps appear as an overlay on your field of view.”
