Microsoft recently added language tags to its store, allowing users to see if a game’s UI, audio, and subtitles support multiple languages. Localization is a big thing in video games, and it’s important for users to be able to play a game in their native language. The addition of language goes beyond just making games more accessible; some see it as a more important step toward embracing the diversity of our world.
“Language labels are not only economically important, but also part of the social justice movement because they show that we value linguistic diversity,” Dr. Aradhana Mudambi, director of ESOL, bilingual education and world languages at Windham Public Schools, told Lifewire via email.
“Of course, it would be even better to make sure that all games are available in multiple languages.”
