What is Grombre? Well, I didn't know what it is either. But then it became the slogan for one of the biggest transitions of my life. A transition that met with both opposition and fantastic support. This transition? The journey to become silver.

Grombre ('grey' + 'ombre') is the way to gradually grow out your dyed hair and transition it into the natural silver hair. It is the opportunity to find self-confidence and show your true colors, forgetting the 'need' to hide what is natural and actually beautiful. Grombre makes women feel authentic and beautiful in their own skin, and of course grow gray with grace and self-acceptance.

I saw my first silver hair around the age of 19 (I prefer to say silver instead of gray). It was then that I started dying my hair. It would remain that way for the next thirty years. As my silver increased as the years went by, the frequency of my paint jobs naturally increased as well.

By the time I was in my mid-30s, I was 80% silver and had to cover my skunk stripe in the middle of my head every two weeks. So in my mid-forties I decided I wanted to stop coloring my hair. Unfortunately, there were many around me who were naysayers. I also consulted many hairdressers, but they refused to help me with a transition plan. It took two years for my transition to actually begin.
