After a few grueling minutes of exploring dark rooms and nearly biting the dust, I finally find the way out. I send my strongest character back for the Crystal, a mysterious item needed to escape, and leave the others waiting by the door to the next level. That was my final mistake. Within moments, my entire team is decimated and I stare open-mouthed at the game over screen.

Dungeon of the Endless Strategy & Tactics 1: Meet Ken and OpBot

Games like Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee are known for their extreme difficulty and permanent death. They are brutal and force you to die over and over again as you approach your end goal.

In Apogee, players must clear rooms, build various upgrades, and find the exit. Once you find it, you must return to the beginning of the level, grab the Crystal, and guide it to the end. The problem is, however, that picking up the Crystal causes almost all enemies in the level to respawn, leaving the once-clear path crawling with creatures looking to kill you.

Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee succeeds if you fail. The entire point of the game is to push you to your limits, forcing you to replay levels as you delve deeper into the labyrinth that developer Amplitude Studios has created.
