Logitech’s new Logi Bolt USB dongle provides an encrypted connection between your mouse and keyboard and your computer. Regular Bluetooth may be convenient and mostly reliable, but it’s not secure, as we’ll soon find out.
“Bluetooth is very insecure,” Roger Smith, an IT expert and industry fellow at the Australian Defence Force Academy, told Lifewire via email.
There are two types of keyboard and mouse hacks that you need to worry about. The first is key logging, or the interception of your wireless keyboard keystrokes. A hacker can steal passwords, secrets, or anything else you type into your computer, even if you assume it’s safe because it’s not connected to the internet.
