People who had Facebook in 2019 may have had their personal data leaked again.
Data breaches put everyone at risk
Business Insider uncovered another data breach at Facebook over the weekend, reportedly affecting 533 million users. If you’re still on Facebook, experts say there are still ways to protect your information from future breaches, even if the social network doesn’t have the best reputation for privacy.
“The problem with Facebook is that it hides all the real privacy settings, and it's not meant to be a privacy platform at all,” Rob Shavell, co-founder and CEO of DeleteMe, told Lifewire over the phone.
Many users have identified information that appears on their Facebook profiles, such as birthdates, phone numbers, family members, and home and work addresses. While this information may seem innocuous to friends, it is valuable to hackers interested in exploiting identity theft information.
